Who to Live With?
It is important to remember that once you have signed a contract, if you change your mind about who you want to live with it can be difficult to get out of it. So you need to make sure that you choose the right people to live with, If they are polar opposites are you still sure you want to live together?
If you’ve decided on who to live with, then you can start thinking about house hunting.
If you haven’t found someone to share with and don’t want to be by yourself, don’t panic. There is some University accommodation available for current students at the University, separate from incoming students, you could have a look at single rooms available in large purpose built student accommodation, or if you want to live in a house or flat, you can find a room in a shared property. Where possible, you might want to try and meet the housemates first.
The Student’s Union puts on events every year such as the Housemate Finder where people who are looking for a room, or groups are looking to fill a room can come together and meet each other. If you can’t make one of these, you could always try the message board where people can post available rooms and you can post to see if you can find housemates/have a look at other’s posts.
Remember to make sure you’re happy with everything before signing the contract.
